Cargo Parachutes
The cargo
parachute assemblies described are the mainstay of airdrop and recovery
operations, even though they were developed in the late 1940's and early 1950's.
There have been modifications throughout the years to these parachutes, but all
attempts to replace them with newer designs have been unsuccessful, with the
exception of the 34 ft. diameter G-14, which was developed in the mid 1960's as
a replacement for the 24 ft. diameter G-13.
